It started like any other matchup. Both teams traded touchdowns in the first quarter, with neither defense able to slow the opposing offense. Every drive seemed to end in points, and it retro bowl quickly became obvious that whoever made the first big defensive play would have a massive advantage. My defense finally forced a fumble near midfield, giving the offense excellent field position. A few smart passes and a powerful run into the end zone gave me my first lead of the game. For a moment, it felt like the momentum had completely shifted.

The opponent answered immediately with a long touchdown drive of their own. They converted a crucial fourth down, broke a huge run on the next play, and suddenly I was trailing again. Every time I thought I had taken control, they found another way to respond.

With less than three minutes remaining, I drove deep into enemy territory and scored to reclaim the lead. The celebration lasted only seconds because the opponent marched right back down the field and found the end zone with under a minute to play.

Starting deep in my own territory, I had less than sixty seconds to save the season. There were no timeouts left, no room for mistakes, and no guarantee that I’d even reach midfield.
